Wind Turbine
Wind turbines are used to generate electricity from the kinetic power of the wind. There are two main kinds of wind generators, those with a vertical axis, and those with a horizontal axis. Wind turbines can be used to generate large amounts of electricity in wind farms both onshore and offshore. Wind power all starts with the sun. When the sun heats up a certain area of land, the air around that land mass absorbs some of that heat. At a certain temperature, that hotter air begins to rise very quickly because a given volume of hot air is lighter than an equal volume of cooler air. Faster-moving or hottter air particleshave more force than slower one, this is what causes wind to blow and therefore causes the blade to blow. The mechanical energy is then translated into electricity and stored and sent off immediately. Wind energy offers a clean alternative to the use of fossil fuels such as oil and coal. Wind is a widely available, renewable resource and produces no off gassing or emissions when in operation. When it comes to use of alternative energy sources, wind is the most environmentally friendly option.
